Eat Your Heart Out 2012

Posted on

I know it's been ages since the last blog but I promise the wait has been worth it (I will be better in 2013)

The past couple of months have involved me taking part in the Eat Your Heart Out project (EYHO) with the phenomenal Emma Thomas AKA Miss Cakehead.
In 2010, Miss Cakehead organised a pop up cake shop aimed at the over 18's and it is where the famous vagina cupcake emerged.

In July this year, I saw that Miss Cakehead was looking for bakers to take part in EYHO 2012.  The theme was the human anatomy.
At the time I didn't know what I was going to do, but knew that I wanted to take part.  In the end I decided on something simple-red blood cell cupcakes.
These were red velvet cupcakes filled with raspberry jame and topped with red blood cells made out of red sugarpaste in a raspberry syrup. Quite simple but effective.

I was blown away by the designs of my fellow bakers-anal cupcakes, heart valve cupcakes and diseased kidneys.  All fabulous and all sold out.  The shop was open bewtween the 26-28 October.  Thanks to Emma's hard work EYHO went globale and was featured in the Daily Mail, The Sun and The Mirror to name but a few.  It was also featured on London Tonight.  I was so pleased to be involved and plan to be involved in EYHO 2013.

These are glorious. Wish I had the chops to whip up a few dozen of these for lab week.
